Our children live in a hurry up world of busy parents, school pressures, and competitive sports. We often don't think of these influences as being stressful to our kids, but often times they are. The hustle and bustle of their lives can have a profound impact.
Per Yoga Journal, yoga can help counter these pressures. Children can learn techniques for self health, relaxation and focus. This enables them to handle life's many challenges with ease. Introducing yoga to children at an early age has proven to increase self esteem, and body awareness with a physical activity that is non competitive. Fostering cooperation and compassion is a great gift we can give to our children.
There are many benefits that children can benefit from yoga. Physically, it enhances flexibility, strength and coordination. Mentally, concentration, calmness and relaxation improves. Introducing yoga to children will lay a foundation for a lifelong practice.
Empower yoga will be offering a week long Yoga Camp for Kids twice this summer. The first session begins June 20-24. The second session will take place August 1-5. Ages 9-13 will meet from 1:00 pm-2:15 pm and ages 5-8 will meet 2:30 pm-3:30 pm. Weather permitting, we will experience yoga outside, each day a healthy snack will be served and we will close out our week with a special black light yoga party!!!! Don't miss out on the fun!
